Swiss QR-Bill & Payment Slip Generator

Create a free Swiss QR-bill as a PDF, the successor to the old payment slip. No signup, no watermark.

Use this free generator to create a Swiss QR-bill as a PDF in under a minute, the official successor to the old orange and red payment slips (Einzahlungsschein). No account, no watermark, no subscription. Enter sender, client and line items, enable the Swiss QR payment part and download the finished invoice.

From payment slip to QR-bill

Since 1 October 2022 the old Swiss payment slips (the orange ESR and the red ES) are no longer valid. They have been replaced by the QR-bill: a normal invoice with a Swiss QR code in the payment part that carries all the payment details.

So creating a payment slip today means creating a QR-bill. Your client scans the QR code in their banking app and the payment is filled in within seconds, including amount, IBAN and reference.

IBAN or QR-IBAN: which do you need?

Your regular IBAN is enough for a QR-bill. With it you create invoices without a reference or with a Creditor Reference (SCOR).

You only need a QR-IBAN if you want to use a QR reference (QRR), the successor to the orange ESR reference number, which helps you reconcile incoming payments automatically. Your bank issues the QR-IBAN free of charge.

ISO 20022 and accepted by every bank

The generator produces the Swiss QR code following the SIX Swiss Implementation Guidelines (standard ISO 20022). The QR-bill is read by every Swiss bank and banking app, from PostFinance to UBS, Raiffeisen and the cantonal banks.

The Swiss QR payment part supports CHF and EUR. You can also create invoices in USD or GBP, in that case without the QR payment part.

Frequently asked questions about QR-bills and payment slips

What is a Swiss QR-bill?

A Swiss QR-bill is the official Swiss invoice with a Swiss QR code in the payment part that carries the IBAN, amount and payment reference. Since 1 October 2022 it has fully replaced the orange (ESR) and red payment slips and is accepted by every Swiss bank and banking app.

How much does the QR-bill generator cost?

Nothing. You create your invoice with a Swiss QR code for free, without signing up, and download it instantly as a PDF. You only need a LumaBill account (from CHF 9 per month) if you want to save, manage or send recurring invoices.

What is the difference between a payment slip and a QR-bill?

The QR-bill has fully replaced the old Swiss payment slips. Since 1 October 2022 the orange ESR and red ES are no longer valid. Instead of a separate payment slip, the invoice now carries a Swiss QR code with all payment details.

Can I still use an old payment slip?

No. Orange and red payment slips are no longer processed by Swiss banks. Use a QR-bill instead, which you create with this generator for free.

Is the generated QR-bill ISO 20022 compliant?

Yes. The generator produces a Swiss QR code following the SIX Swiss Implementation Guidelines (ISO 20022). The invoice is accepted by all Swiss banks and banking apps.

Do I need a QR-IBAN?

Only if you want to use QR references (QRR). With your regular IBAN you can create QR-bills without a reference or with a Creditor Reference (SCOR). Your bank issues the QR-IBAN.

Which currencies does the QR-bill support?

The Swiss QR payment part supports CHF and EUR. You can also create invoices in USD or GBP in the generator, in that case without the QR payment part.

Can I create recurring invoices?

Not in the free generator. With LumaBill Starter (CHF 9/mo) you create unlimited invoices, quotes and recurring invoices and keep track of open payments.
